Since 01/01/2019 the new packaging law in Germany came into force. The law replaces the previous “Verpackungsverordnung” and brings some important changes for all liable companies.
One amendment is the establishment of a new “control-authority” Stiftung Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister. All companies that put packaging on the German market have to register and report the volumes at the register on their own. Third companies are not allowed to do it.
Furthermore a new public register was implemented.
Further modifications are an increase in recycling quotas and incentives for recyclable packaging.
